Hi! I’m Lauren Tausend, a textile based artist and designer from Naarm (Melbourne) Australia. My focus is on story-telling through the process of traditionally craft based practices.

Using hand and machine techniques of knitting and crochet, I like to explore the intersection between art, craft and design. My work has an organic and playful approach with a strong connection to the hand.

Building on references of aerial views of the environment and topographical maps, my inspiration comes from the interconnectedness within landscapes. Looking at the colour, shape, texture and movement of the surrounding environment and documenting these moments in time as abstract textile paintings.

The practice of craft has always been a way for me to process thoughts, change and memory - connecting the external and the internal to tell a story of the past, but also imagining future landscapes.

I'm available for textile commissions, collaborations, craft projects and freelance opportunities. If you're like to work together or just say hi please send me an email at hello@laurentausend.com.
